LCD AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to increase an aperture ratio by connecting a drain electrode with a pixel electrode without a contact hole. CONSTITUTION: A gate electrode(33) and a gate line are formed on a transparent substrate(31), and a gate insulating film(35) is formed to cover the gate line and the gate electrode. An active layer(37) is formed on the gate insulating film, and an ohmic contact layer(39) is formed thereon to form a source electrode(41) and a drain electrode. To make a channel between the source electrode and the drain electrode, a part of the drain electrode is inserted into the source electrode. A passivation layer(45) is formed on the active layer to cover the sides of the source/drain electrodes. A pixel electrode(49) is formed at a part corresponding to a TFT on the gate insulating film and the passivation layer. The pixel electrode is contacted with a side of the drain electrode patterned to have an L shape. Therefore, the pixel electrode is contacted with the drain electrode without an additional contact hole. The aperture ratio is increased.
