PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a single mode optical fiber switch in order to lessen insertion loss by improving the design of the single mode optical fiber switch and to constitute an advanced matrix switch design while maintaining the low insertion loss within a permissible range. SOLUTION: The m input/n output (for example, 1×1, 1×2, 2×2) optical fiber switch includes a switch substrate formed together with V-grooves arranged with the single mode optical fibers within the same in the state of being operatively arranged with respect to a refracting mirror in such a manner that its end transmits or receives a light signal. Lenses are directly fused to the respective ends of the single mode optical fibers in order to prevent the alignment defects between the optical paths defined by these single mode optical fibers, by which the need for separate collimating lenses is eliminated and the stable interfaces having no dimensional changes are created between the fibers and the lenses and eventually the further compact optical switch device is obtained. |
