PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally display video, even if the video signals are not registered or non-standard. SOLUTION: A synchronization LSI1 counts the number of horizontal dots and the number of vertical lines by using a first clock. A microcomputer 6 collates these values with the present values registered in a memory, determines the kind of signals, reads the setting values of the signal kind and sets the frequency of a second clock of the synchronization LSI1 to conduct sampling of the video signals. A system conversion LSI1 converts interlacing system into progressive system. An image-processing LSI3 conducts processes, so that horizontal/vertical sizes and display position are made proper. A gamma compensation section 4 conducts gamma compensation and a display device 5 provides optimum display. When the video signals are non-registered signals, automatic parameters in the memory are switched and read, manual parameters corresponding to the number of horizontal dots are selected, and a control section 7 adjusts the synchronization LSI and the system conversion LSI, and the image processing LSI to display optimally.
