PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that unevenness of temperature of a pressure roller surface is incurred when printing operation is done right after the completion of cleaning of the pressure roller, and causes uneven fixing, also causes difference between a temperature detected by a thermistor and an actual temperature of the pressure roller resulting in impossibility of a normal fixing temperature control. SOLUTION: The cleaning control of a pressure member is performed in a manner such that soiling stuck on the peripheral surface of the pressing member is successively transferred to a recording material and is removed by driving the pressing member is in terms of step by the width of a heating nip part brought into press-contact with a heating member after heating and cooling the heating nip part while catching the recording material by a heating member and performing step-driving repeatedly for plural times and cooling control to cool the pressing member when the cleaning control of the pressing member is completed is performed.
