PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a ferrule in which variance in the bore of its through- hole is greatly reduced, in which roundness is improved, and in which the manufacturing cost is lowered. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing an optical fiber ferrule made of zirconia ceramics, a long cylindrical molding, in which a prepared hole is preliminarily formed, is fired and, after the inner circumference of the prepared hole is finished, the molding is cut to a prescribed length.
