PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide resin for a toner and a toner which keep both good low temperature fixing property and storage property and have excellent transparency so as not to inhibit color development of pigments or dyes to be dispersed in the resin. SOLUTION: The resin composition for toner essentially comprises polyester resin consisting of a dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component. The skeleton of the dicarboxylic acid in the polyester resin contains 80 to 99.9 mol% of terephthalic acid skeleton and 20 to 0.1 mol% of o-phthalic acid skeleton.
