PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid dispersion of a colorless water-insoluble photographically useful organic compound excellent in shelf stability and to provide a method for preparing the solid dispersion. SOLUTION: In the method for preparing the solid dispersion, the colorless water-insoluble photographically useful organic compound is dispersed in a medium and heat-treated at a higher temperature than the dispersion temperature for a time enough to regulate a change in the particle size of the photographically useful organic compound caused when the prepared solid dispersion is allowed to stand at 40 deg.C for 3 days to <=20%.
