PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively constitute a device, and to accurately detect a residual quantity of powder and granular material. SOLUTION: This powder and granular material residual quantity detecting device is provided with a housing part 11 for housing the powder and granular material 1, a magnetic substance 12 arranged in a prescribed depth position in the housing part 11, a magnetic substance support part 13 for rockingly supporting the magnetic substance 12 in the housing part 11, an MR element 14 arranged in a position for detecting a magnetic field generated from the magnetic substance 12 and generating detecting voltage by impressing the magnetic field from the magnetic substance 12 and a signal processing circuit 15 for performing band-pass filter processing with a frequency of a natural frequency as the center when vibrating the magnetic substance 12 by the magnetic substance support part 13 on the detecting voltage from the MR element 14, and the residual quantity of powder and granular material 1 housed in the housing part 11 is informed on the basis of the detecting voltage by performing the band-pass filter processing by the signal processing circuit 15.
