PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and reliably mount a linear scale by a simple work without carrying out complicated adjustment required in the past. SOLUTION: When mounting a linear scale to detect the position of a movable body by reading the stripe-pattern or the slit of the linear scale by a linear scale sensor provided in the movable body moving along a guide rail, the mounting structure of the linear scale has a linear scale pressing plate fixed to a guide rail by keeping a prescribed gap between, a fixing means to fix one end part of the linear scale disposed in the prescribed gap formed between the guide rail and the linear scale pressing plate to the guide rail, and an energizing means to energize the other end of the linear scale disposed in the prescribed gap formed between the guide rail and the liner scale pressing plate in a direction to extend the linear scale.
