POLARIZING ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing element having the improved adhesibility at a low cost and additionally enabling to manufacture a large area polarizing element and a method for manufacture the same. SOLUTION: A substrate film 12 containing at least a kind of compound selected from a group of compounds A and/or B for a substrate film raw material as a main component is formed on a reference surface 11a of a glass substrate 11. A metal dispersion film 13 is formed on the substrate film 12 by coating it with a coating liquid containing at least a kind of compound of an element selected from a metal compound and a group of raw materials of a metal dispersion film coating liquid as a main component. Subsequently fine metal particles 14 with anisotropy in shape are selectively deposited on a film boundary surface 16 between the substrate film 12 and the metal dispersion film 13 by heat or electromagnetic wave irradiation treatment. Thereby the adhesibility and wear resistance of the substrate film 12 and the metal dispersion film 13 are improved and at the same time, the large area polarizing element becomes manufacturable at a low cost.
