PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive elevator car monitoring device capable of positively monitoring passengers when passengers board an elevator car. SOLUTION: A photographing device 1 photographs a photographing area from inside the elevator car. A part of photographed images is extracted by an image extracting part 2 as a determination basis image. A passenger presence determining part 3 determines a passenger presence on the basis of the determination basis image and sends this result to a recoding device 4. The recording device 4 records corresponding photographed images only when it is determined that a passenger exists in the elevator car.
