PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label fitting device and a label fitting method by which a label can be automatically and surely fitted (hung) on the neck section of a container, and the fitted label is not easily slipped out, and in addition, a mound section does not need to be disposed like a conventional method. SOLUTION: A band-shape label original paper 2 wherein holes 2a for passing container head sections are continuously formed with a specified interval is fed. Then, the label original paper 2 is cut into individual labels L. At the same time, containers 3 having the head section are carried in a specified direction. In the meantime, the cut labels L are fed while both side edges of the cut labels L are pinched by two pairs of top and bottom running belts at a location above the containers 3. At the same time, the labels L are carried while synchronizing with the carrying of the containers 3 in such a manner that the center of the hole 2a of the label L and the center of the head section of the container 3 may meet. Then, the head section of the container 3 is passed in the hole 2a of the label L while introducing the label L to the vicinity of the shoulder of the container from a location higher than the container 3.
