PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the length of culms of waste straws by a waste straw sensor during transportation as early as possible, and to move rapidly a stock arrange ment apparatus to a position corresponding to the length of culms. SOLUTION: In a combine harvester equipped with a raking apparatus 7 for receiving threshed waste straws from a waste straw transportation chain 5, a stock arrangement apparatus 8 for arranging the stock bases of waste straws and a waste straw sensor 9 for detecting the length of waste straws, the installation position of the waste straw sensor 9 is at the front part of a turn locus of the raking apparatus 7 or at the transportation end part of the waste straw transportation chain 5.
