The invention concerns a method wherein, in the event of a failure in a programme-controlled circuit (STB) of the operating voltage (BS), supplied by a primary voltage source, the circuit (STB) is supplied with supply voltage (VS) by means of a replacement voltage source (EQ) with a limited supply of energy. Depending on the level of the supply voltage (VS), at least one subfunction of the functions performed in the circuit (STB) is deactivated as a function of its importance and/or its energy consumption specific to its function sequence, the energy supply from the replacement voltage source (EQ) being used in an optimum manner in consideration of the total functionality.
