PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-recording apparatus which can shorten an image- recording time by restoring and using a preliminarily stored image pattern when it is necessary. SOLUTION: When a READ access to an image block 1 is required to a memory control circuit 104, an HV control circuit 101 outputs image data from an image memory 105. The HV control circuit 101 stores the same image data to a predetermined region of an HV buffer 102 and a bit comparator 103. The bit comparator 103 carries out a judgment process for the image data and transmits the judgment result to the HV control circuit 101 only when all image data are not the same. Since the HV control circuit 101 controls to convert the image data stored in the HV buffer 102 and write back to the image memory 105 only when the circuit receives the judgment result, a processing time for converting all data becomes unnecessary if all data are the same and not required to be converted. The image-recording time can be shortened accordingly.
