PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording element having a rapid ink drying time while minimizing puddling and to provide an ink jet recording element not having a crack. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording element comprises a support carrying an image receiving layer containing non-porous polymer particles in a polymer binder so that the non-porous polymer particles of at least 8 pts. exists in the polymer binder of 1 pt. and the non-porous polymer particles have a crosslinking degree of at least 30 mol%.
