PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve smaller size and lighter weight of an ink jet recorder by miniaturizing spaces for a waste ink tank for storing waste ink and for a recovering device. SOLUTION: This portable ink jet recorder comprises the ink tank 3, a recording head 10 that can take a first condition wherein a face 11 for ejecting ink drops is exposed to the outside and a second condition wherein the face 11 is opposed to the ink tank 3, an ink supplying passage for supplying ink in the ink tank 3 to the recording head 10 and housings 1, 2. The recording is performed by manually moving the housings 1, 2 on a recording medium. An opening 8 that receives the waste ink ejected from the recording head 10 when the recording head 10 takes the second condition is formed on the ink tank 3. |
