PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant seed-coating material that is biodegradable without influence of the concentration of salts of divalent and monovalent metals in soil. SOLUTION: The objective plant seed coating material comprises galactomannan, boron ion, tri- or more multivalent ions other than boron ion and includes >=50 mass % of a water-absorbing material with the absorption power of aqueous solution of divalent or monovalent cation >=40 times its self weight and has the gel strength of 2×10-5-1×10-3 N/mm2 after water absorption.
