PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing styrene foaming resin particles which has excellent self-extinguishing properties, narrow particle size distribution of resultant styrene foaming resin, gives foam-molded products of good appearance and excellent cellular structure. SOLUTION: One hundred parts by weight of styrene monomer are combined with 0.4-6 pts.wt. of organic bromine compound, 0.0001-0.1 pt.wt. of an alcohol of 1-20 carbon atoms, additionally a slightly water-soluble inorganic salt as a suspension agent and the styrene monomer is polymerized in the aqueous medium. During the polymerization or after completion of the polymerization, a foaming agent is added to the polymer in an amount of 1-20 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the styrene monomer.
