PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steady rest device for preventing the vibration or deflection of a work with machining resistance in precisely machining a machined portion of a work planetary-rotated at a position offset from the rotational axis of the work. SOLUTION: The steady rest device comprises an arm portion 21a pivotally supported with a grinding wheel spindle W as a supporting point and adapted to be moved forward and backward to an axis B connecting the grinding wheel spindle W and a grinding point and a supporting portion 21b formed at the end of the arm portion 21a for supporting a crank pin CP(1) planetary-rotated around a C-axis against machining resistance.
