PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of a synthesis, capable of introducing an aromatic group into a heterocyclic nucleus without using a harmful material. SOLUTION: This method for producing a heterocyclic compound comprises producing the heterocyclic compound expressed by the general formula III, wherein, X O, S, Se, Te, NR1, CR2R3 or CR4=CR5; R, R1 to R5 are each H or a mono-valent substituent; V1 to V4 are reach H or a mono-valent substituent but at least >=1 are each a halogen or a pseudo halogen group by coupling a compound expressed by the following formula I, wherein, X, R, V1 to V4 are the same as in the formula I with a compound expressed by the formula II, wherein, A is a substitutable alkyl, aryl or hetero group; M is a metal atom; L is a mono-valent substituent; and (n) is 0 or a positive integer in the presence of a transition metal catalyst.
