PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a quaternary ammonium salt with high stability as a condensation agent usable in producing an amide compound from a carboxylic acid compound and an amine compound, or ester compound from a carboxylic acid compound and an alcohol compound. SOLUTION: This quaternary ammonium salt is shown by the general formula (I), wherein, R1 is a 1-4C alkyl or 6-8C aryl; R2 is a 1-4C alkyl; and X is a halogen atom, e.g. 4-(4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-4-methylmorpholinium chloride <1 mass% in triazine compound content which is obtained by reaction between a triazine compound such as 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine and a morpholine compound such as 4-methylmorpholine in the presence of water or an alcohol at 0.1-10 mol per mol of the triazine compound in an organic solvent other than the alcohol followed by removing the organic solvent and the water or alcohol out of the system.
