PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a rotary encoder for detecting a shuttle position to control a velocity of the shuttle and to generate a hammer-driving timing is conventionally required to be adjusted in mounting position in order to match a relation between the shuttle position and a home signal of the rotary encoder when a printer is assembled, with causing a cost increase. SOLUTION: The home signal of the rotary encoder is changed synchronously with a position signal of the rotary encoder by a home signal position-changing means, thereby eliminating an adjustment work when the printer is assembled and reducing a man-hour for the adjustment work. A deviation between the shuttle and the home signal is judged from the printing result by printing with lowering a velocity of the shuttle, thereby enabling the adjustment work after the assembling.
