PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translucent recording medium for ink jet recording capable of suppressing an adverse influence to be given to an environment to a maximum limit in the case of a waste disposal by incorporating excellent OHP suitability due to an ink jet recording and good biodegradability. SOLUTION: The translucent recording medium for ink jet recording comprises a matrix of a silicon oxide made by a decomposition polymerization of an organic silicon compound, and a saccharide material of an acetyl derivative of a cellulose or an oligosaccharide so that a translucent base of a polymer substance in which the silicon oxide and the saccharide material are made of the polymer substance made of at least one bond of a hydrogen bond, siloxane bond, urethane bond, urea bond and amide bond is surface treated by a deacetylation in such a manner that an acetyl group of the surface of the base is less than inner acetyl group of the base. |
