PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high quality color printing wherein a recessed section which may be created on a printing paper is suppressed and then the defective printing due to the recessed section is eliminated. SOLUTION: In this printer, excessive conveyance of the printing paper 102 is executed after printing by each color is completed in order to ensure that a dye on an ink ribbon is peeled therefrom and the dye is fixed on the printing paper 102. The amounts in conveyance of the printing paper are different among colors of Y, M, C and K. As a result, when a direction of conveyance of the printing paper is switched between a forward direction and a reverse direction, a position of the printing paper nipped with rollers (roller reversing positions B1-B4) is shifted and then the recessed section of the printing paper is suppressed.
