PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plating method by which the development of non-plated portion is surely prevented and the removing treatment of flux after plating is unnecessary and a plated material having good outward appearance and workability can be produced and a long term operation can be performed, in a hot dip Al-Zn alloy coating having 45-60 mass% Al content where the flux treatment is performed at the time of plating. SOLUTION: Before hot dip coating, a metallic raw material to be coated is dipped into hot dipping flux bath composed of one or more kinds of metallic fluorides (e.g. AlF+KF) and substantially no chloride for a short time. Since this raw material is preheated by making the flux bath temperature to be in the temperature range of -50 deg.C to +100 deg.C of the hot dipping bath temperature, the dipping time into the hot dipping bath is shortened and the formation of brittle intermetallic compound layer is restrained.
