PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent skew of a paper sheet held and carried between a front feed roller and a front pressure roller. SOLUTION: In a normal condition, a proximal end 17 of a register plate 10 fitted to a register shaft 14 is located at an outlet of the paper sheet 1 in a space 15 between the front feed roller 8 and the front pressure roller, and a paper sheet guide surface 19 of the roller guide plate 13 is located on the front pressure roller 9 side from a paper sheet carrying surface by the front feed roller 8. When the paper sheet 1 is inserted in the space 15, the proximal end 17 of the register plate 10 is retracted from the outlet of the space 15, the paper sheet guide surface of the roller guide plate 13 is lowered and retracted from the space 15, the front pressure roller 9 is pressed against the front feed roller 8, and the front feed roller 8 is rotated to carrying the paper sheet 1.
