PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction type sheet carrier capable of preventing degradation of the suction force irrespective of the sheet carrying position and consistently carrying the sheet. SOLUTION: This suction type sheet carrier and this image forming device comprise a sheet carrying means for carrying a sheet, and a sucking means for sucking air. In the suction type sheet carrier for carrying the sheet along a holding surface of the sheet carrying means by the negative pressure by sucking air by the sucking means, a shutter is provided between the holding surface of the sheet carrying means and an air intake port of the sucking means, the shutter is movable in the sheet carrying direction, and the shutter is moved according to the sheet carrying position so as to close a part of the air intake port having no sheet placed thereon.
