PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method wherein a wood fiber board which does not contain formaldehyde and has excellent water resistance, bending strength and peel strength, can be manufactured at a low price. SOLUTION: When the wood fiber board is manufactured by a dry manufacturing method, prior to steaming and boiling wood chips or when they are stemmed and boilded, a starchy group is beforehand added, the starchy group is hydrolysed by heat and water to be made low-molecular in a fibrillation process. Thereby, a state wherein the product is uniformly dispersed in the fibrillated wood fiber, is provided. Then, an isocyanate based adhesive is added to the wood fiber, which is formed and hot pressed to obtain the wood fiber board.
