The present invention discloses a novel polypeptide - RING finger gene MID1 protein 10.56 and a polynucleotide encoding the same, as well as a method of producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technique. The present invention also discloses methods of using the polypeptide in treatment of various disease, such as disease associated with embryonic development deformation of face, the five sense organs and nerve system, microphthalmia with linear skin defects(MLS) and so on. The present invention also discloses an antagonist against the polypeptide and the therapeutic use of the same.
