PURPOSE: An automatic counterlight correcting device of a video camera is provided to invert a video signal inputted when counterlight is generated and then add the original signal to the inverted signal so as to automatically correct counterlight. CONSTITUTION: An automatic counterlight correcting device of a video camera includes an image state judgement unit(10) for judging the luminance state of an input video signal to output a switch drive signal for correcting counterlight, the first counterlight correcting switch whose operation state is varied according to the switch drive signal, and a video signal inversion unit(20) for inverting and amplifying the luminance signal of the video signal when the first counterlight correcting switch is operated. The device further includes the second counterlight correcting switch whose operation state is varied according to the switch drive signal, a DC coupler(30) for removing DC component of the signal output from the video signal inversion unit, and a DC reproduction unit(40) for adding an additional DC component to the signal output from the DC coupler to perform DC level shift.
