A switch assembly comprises a control element 2 for mounting to one face of a solid panel 1 and a switching element 3 for mounting to the other face of the panel. The control element contains a movable magnet 10, a parameter of whose field is detected by a sensor in the switching element to provide an electrical switching output in dependence on the field parameter sensed. The magnet is attached to the underside of rotatable control wheel 7. Switching element 3 comprises a magnetorestrictive device whose resistance changes with changing magnetic field. |
