[Also in Group X] A floor cleaning apparatus comprises a suction nozzle 7, Fig. 2, e.g., of slit form surrounded or nearly so by one or more pressure slits 4 inclined to the slit 7 so as to blow air at an oblique angle to the floor surface 1, Fig. 1 ; the slits 4, 7 being maintained between 10 and 20 cms. above the floor by side plates 3 preferably having rubber surface contacting strip 2. The slits are cut in a top plate 6 connecting the plates 3 which carry a relatively stationary or rotating brush 16 in front of the fore slit 4. Suction air is circulated through a cyclone 15 by a fan 10 discharging through a duct 8 to distributing chambers 5 and the slits 4 ; any excess air being bled to atmosphere through a valved duct 9 and a filter 12. The slit 7 may be asymetric to the slits 4 which may be of different widths and inclination and connected at their ends by further slits. |
