<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To open and close platform doors provided on a platform, in a manner that matches the opening and closing of the vehicle doors of a railroad vehicle, without modifying the arrangement of the vehicles. SOLUTION: ITV cameras 12 are installed on the ceiling of a platform to pick up images of the vehicle doors DR of a railroad vehicle which will stop at a preset stopping position and of nearby portions. Image signals of the ITV cameras are subjected to image processing to detect the open or closed conditions of the vehicle doors. The vehicle 1 stops near the preset stopping position and platform doors DH are opened or closed in a manner matching the opening or closing movement of the vehicle doors DT. Instead of detecting the vehicle doors DT by means of the ITV cameras 12, the platform doors DH may be controlled by picking up and detecting using the ITV camera 12 an image of an indicator light which turns on when even one of all the vehicle doors of the vehicle is not fully closed. An automatic train control device ATC and an automatic train stop device ATS permit the departure of the vehicle only when all the platform doors are fully closed.</p> |
