A system and method to enable the secure transfer of information between nod al points in a workgroup over a public network by facilitating the creation of a virtual private network (VPN). The system comprises at least 3 nodal points and where at least one of these nodal points is an ENS server. The system is configured so as to centrally manage the system an d allow for the update, modification, and implementation of information for each node in the workgroup from an ENS server. The system further comprises a database linked to the ENS server and a client application having an ENS library located at each node. The client applicati on communicates with the ENS library through an API, and where the library transmits data to and receives data from the ENS server.
