PURPOSE: An ADSL(Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line) modem system and a method for changing a profile in the ADSL modem system are provided, which can change the profile easily, by coding each case of the profile stored in the modem and storing each code and a corresponding program according to each code and executing a program corresponding to the changed profile by changing code when changing the profile. CONSTITUTION: An ADSL modem system of a subscriber(ATU-R; ADSL Terminal Unit Central Office Receiving Unit)(100) comprises a memory part(120) including a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(110) and a flash memory(122) and a RAM(126), an ethernet interface(140) connecting the CPU to a LAN(Local Area Network) of the subscriber, and an ADSL interface(150) connecting the CPU to an ADSL line. The CPU controls the subscriber ADSL modem system through a control bus as a whole. The memory part comprises the programmable flash memory storing data of the CPU and a program to be performed in the CPU, and the RAM temporarily storing data processed in the CPU.
