METHOD FOR PRODUCING NATURAL BETA-CAROTENE USING DUNALIELLA SALINA

PURPOSE: A method for producing natural beta-carotene using a microorganism, Dunaliella salina, is provided, to mass-produce the beta-carotene. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing natural beta-carotene using a microorganism, Dunaliella salina, comprises the steps of: a) high-cell density cultivation of Dunaliella salina UTEX 200 in a medium under the intensity of light illumination of 4,000 lx to 8,000 lx, preferably 5,500 lx to 6,500 lx; and b) induction of the production of beta-carotene under the intensity of light illumination of 18,000 lx to 21,000 lx, preferably 19,000 lx to 20,000 lx, in which the medium contains 0.8 to 1.2M of NaCl, preferably 0.9 to 1.1M; the light has the wave length of 400 nm to 800 nm, preferably 610 nm to 750 nm; the medium is inorganic salt medium or soil extract medium; and the cultivation temperature is 23 to 28 deg.C, preferably 25 deg.C.
