The handling equipment comprises a gripping mechanism for hollow elements, such as breeze blocks or chimney flues, which consists of metal claws which pivot freely splayed out about a horizontal axle fixed at the end of two vertical mountings. The claws are opened and closed by a tube forming a sheath enveloping the mounting and having a cut-out forming a window through which the claws can pass. A crane trolley hoist lifts the gripping mechanism and its load to place it safely in a desired position.
