Chip card module has a microprocessor for exchanging a message with a module user, where the message can be encoded in a graphical manner using an information mask. The user has a decoding mask on a translucent support so that he or she can visually decode the message. In a commercial transaction a vendor inserts the users chip card in the chip card reader. He then enters the total to be debited from the card. The vendor can then check the amount entered on his screen. The user can see transaction details and the same total on his screen but graphically encoded. Use of a mask or set of masks enables the image to be decoded. An Independent claim is made for a security device for encoding a message between a chip card and its user.
