A keyboard 1 has a rotary wheel(s) 2,3 mounted on a directional key section 13 of the keyboard. Rotation of the wheel(s) by a user moves a cursor (not shown) on a display screen upwards, downwards, leftwards, and rightwards. As the wheels are pressed downwards further, the wheels may rotate to scroll a display screen window. The ends of the rotary wheels are supported on an axial frame (22,32,Fig.2) via respective shafts (21,31). The rotation of each rotary wheel can be sensed optically, via photoelectric means (41-44,Fig.2), or mechanically (Fig.6), to send a respective current signal to a circuit board (4,Fig.2), which transfers the signal to the display screen to control the cursor movement thereon. The wheels may be arranged parallel to each other (Fig.4), or one may be arranged transversely and the other longitudinally (Fig.1) relative to the keyboard. |
