PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission unit, in which not only size can be changed in response to the numbers of connection points required but also complicated wirings can be restrained. SOLUTION: A serial transmission slave station 6 is composed of a main unit 7 and a sub-unit 8. A transmit-receive section 16 and an output section 17, having power-supply output terminals 9 at 16 points, are incorporated into the main unit 7. Then, an output section 24 with the power-supply output terminals at 16 points is incorporated into the sub-unit 8. The sub-unit 8 can be mounted and demounted to and from the main unit 7 via connector sections 14 and 15, and the output section 24 is connected to the transmit-receive section 16 and a power terminal 13 under a state, in which both units 7 and 8 are connected integrally via the connector sections 14 and 15. The serial transmission slave station 6 is used only by the main unit 7, when the numbers of the connection points connected to the power-supply output terminals 9 are smaller than 16, while the sub-unit 8 is joined with the main unit 7 and the serial transmission slave station 6, with the numbers of control at 32 points being obtained, when the numbers of the connection points are larger than 17.
