PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow tape drives whose case main bodies are provided with memory readers in different types to share a single reel type tape cartridge incorporating a non-contact type memory cartridge. SOLUTION: A non-contact type memory cartridge M is arranged in a case main body 1. There are two kinds of tape drives whose memory reader are differently positioned. The memory cartridge M in the case main body 1 is constituted so as to be movable across a first communicating position corresponding to the memory reader of one tape drive and a second communicating position corresponding to the memory reader of the other tape drive. Also, this memory cartridge M is controlled so as not to be unintentionally moved across the first communicating position and the second communicating position.
