PURPOSE: An optical disc drive apparatus is provided to completely eliminate the introduction of a dual chassis system, and to enable a skew servo control operation in two directions of a radiating direction and a tangential direction. CONSTITUTION: An optical disc drive apparatus(10) has a skew servo mechanism(M1). In the skew servo mechanism, one end portions(15a,16a) of a pair of parallel running guide shaft members(15,16) for slidably guiding an optical pickup unit(23) are slidably secured to a chassis(14) on which a spindle motor(27) having a turn table(27a) is mounted to be rotationally driven in a radial direction by a pair of pivot members(17). And then, based on the result detected by a skew detecting unit, the other end portions(15b,16b) of the pair of the guide shaft members are rotatably driven in a radial direction by first and second cam surfaces(19,20) of a sliding cam(18) which is slidably driven in the direction orthogonally intersecting the pair of the guide shafts.
