PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a scan process time of a photography film, without raising the cost of a CCD. SOLUTION: A control method for line CCD sensor is provided, which comprises a photodiode array where photodiodes are lined up, a transfer gate for outputting the electric charge of the photodiode array, and a transfer path for transferring the electric charge supplied from the transfer gate to an output terminal. Here, an image is imaged only in a central region of the photodiode array, while no image is imaged in its first half and second half regions. The pixels are read from the first-half region and the central region in this order. Related to the second half region, reading is stopped when the remaining pixels equaling or less than the number of pixels in the first-half region are left. At this moment, all the pixels of the photodiode array are stopped reading so as to solve the problem.
