PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide for guiding a raw material bucket so that it is net caught by the deck surface of an insertion opening in a raw material insertion chamber of a vacuum melting and casting apparatus for metals. SOLUTION: Fixed guiding plate pairs 51a, 51b and 51c are arranged vertically between the insertion and downside positions of the raw material bucket in the raw material insertion chamber at the back side thereof viewed from an insertion door 33 and each pair is arranged to form a central angle of about 60 deg. in plan view. Fixed guiding plate pairs 52b and 52c are arranged vertically below the insertion opening 32 and each pair is arranged to form a central angle of about 60 deg. in plan view. First movable guiding plate pairs 52a are provided in the insertion opening 32, in which they are moved to standby positions where they do not get in the way of the raw material bucket when it is inserted while they are turned to set positions conforming to the fixed guiding plats pairs 52b and 52C after the insertion.
