PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device in which uniform display quality in the display region is realized. SOLUTION: The device has a liquid crystal layer 30 which selectively reflects light in a specified wavelength region, a pair of alignment layers 16 and 26 formed on both surfaces of the liquid crystal layer, and a pair of electrodes 14 and 24 to apply voltage on the liquid crystal layer 30. One of the alignment layers 16 and 26 is a horizontal alignment layer 16 and the other is a perpendicular alignment layer 26.
