PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auger type ice making machine which washes out automatically and completely impurities accumulated in the same machine at every given periods of time. SOLUTION: The washing mechanism of the auger type ice making machine is constituted of the auger type ice making machine, comprising a water receiving tank 13, an ice making unit 18 having the discharging port 27b of washing water, an ice crushing unit 24 and an ice storage tank T1, and a valve 12b, arranged in the water discharging port 27 and whose opening and closing are controlled so as to be synchronized directly or indirectly with the operation program of a refrigerating machine. In such a washing mechanism for the auger type ice making machine, the system of the refrigerating machine is stopped upon washing and washing water is poured into or discharged out of the ice making machine under a condition that an auger 20 is operated continuously.
