PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high tension cord fitting device for a general purpose engine capable of shortening the exposure length of a high tension cord, reducing the cost and simplifying the assembling work without using a clamp fitting and a grommet by supporting the high tension cord while utilizing a cooling cowl formed by molding a synthetic resin and a fan cover. SOLUTION: An overlap part of the fan cover 3 and the cooling cowl 5 with each other is formed with recessed groove parts 11 and 12 from each end surface, and a high-voltage cord 9 is taken out of the fan cover 3 and the cooling cowl 5 through each groove part 11 and 12 so as to be connected to an ignition plug 8 when assembling the cooling cowl and the fan cover so as to be overlapped with each other at each one part thereof, and both the groove parts 11 and 12 pinch the high-voltage cord 9 in the nearly right angle direction from each other.
