PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a snubber circuit which eliminates a surge voltage which is generated when a diode recovers reversely and saves power, when a bias is changed from a forward direction to a backward direction. SOLUTION: The snubber circuit 2 wherein a switching element 3 and a capacitor 4 are connected in series is connected in parallel with a diode 1. When a switching element 6 is turned on, a surge voltage is generated by reverse recovery of the diode 1. At this time, the switching element 3 is in an electrically continuous state, so that the surge voltage is eliminated by the capacitor 4. Furthermore, the snubber circuit 2 does not contain a DC resistance element so that power is saved.
