PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the uneven winding of a magnetic recording medium in winding with an orderly winding machine and slippage by vibration in transportation. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium is obtained by forming a magnetic layer 3 on one face of a nonmagnetic substrate 2 and a back layer 4 on the other face. The coefficient of friction between the magnetic layer 3 and the back layer 4 is set at 0.30-0.55.
